Antenatal Education: Preparing for Birth with Confidence and Calm
As part of the care I offer, your support includes dedicated antenatal education through my Calm Birth Course.
This course is based on the KGH Hypnobirthing Method, which I am accredited to teach.
For those who would like it, the course has also been thoughtfully adapted to align with Christian values, including the use of scripture woven throughout.
The aim is not simply to give you information, but to help you feel:
Informed
Confident
Empowered in the choices you make for your pregnancy and birth
What the Course Includes
The course is made up of six sessions:
The original four KGH sessions
Plus two additional sessions I have created, focusing on postnatal preparation
(Postnatal preparation is something often missed, but can make a significant difference to how supported you feel after your baby arrives.)
If you are on my Fully Held Package, from around 24 weeks of pregnancy, we begin using longer, 4 hour appointments so that we can cover everything in a relaxed and unrushed way. If you book my Gently Nurtured Package, this starts from your first appointment with me at 30 weeks.
Session One: Understanding the Mind and Birth
We begin by focusing on you. Rather than following a rigid, one-size-fits-all structure, the course is designed to be tailored around what feels important for you, your experiences, and your preferences.
From there, we explore:
How the mind works, with simple demonstrations to bring this to life. So you can start to get excited about birth, knowing you were already created with the tools to do so
What hypnobirthing actually means — and just as importantly, what it doesn’t
The word “hypnosis” can sometimes feel off-putting, especially if you’ve seen it used for entertainment. That’s not what this is.
This is about understanding how your mind and body are designed to work together — and learning how to work with that design, rather than against it.
Within the Christian adaptation of the course, we also explore how God has designed our bodies with intention and purpose, using scripture and prayer as the foundation. So you can draw closer to God in this season of life.

A Thoughtful Approach to Birth
This isn’t about control or performance. It’s about:
Understanding what is happening in your body
Reducing fear and tension
Learning how to support the natural processes of labour
So you can give birth feeling calm and able to surrender to the path God has laid before you.
We’ll also cover the physiology of birth, including:
How your muscles work during labour
The role of hormones
How your nervous system responds
So you can trust that your body has been perfectly designed to birth your baby.
Understanding this can often shift birth from something that feels unknown or overwhelming into something that feels more familiar and manageable.
Practising Calm and Relaxation
We finish the session with a Calm Trust script — a gentle guided relaxation.
This isn’t about doing anything “perfectly.” It’s simply an opportunity to:
Step away from external noise
Practise deep relaxation
Begin building confidence in your ability to switch off and rest
Over time, this becomes a valuable tool not only for birth, but for pregnancy and early parenthood as well.
Resources to Support You Between Sessions
To support your practice, you’ll have access to a set of audio tracks through KGH, which I will send to you.
Many parents also find the Christian Hypnobirthing app a helpful addition alongside the course.

A Final Thought
My hope is that through this course, you will feel:
Well-informed
Confident in your choices
Equipped to approach birth with a sense of calm and trust
Not just for yourself, but for your partner too.
